The Gypsy is known as Maruti Suzuki Gypsy King in India. It is also known as Suzuki Gimny, Suzuki Samurai and Suzuki Sierra in some other parts of the world.
When it was originally launched in 1985 it came with 1000 CC (NG 410) engine mated to 4 speed gear box. It was way too under-powered hence Suzuki released 1300 CC engine in 1993 as Gypsy King. Later in 1998 Suzuki released same engine with MPFI.
1.3 LTR carburetor engine produces 60 BHP while MPFI engine produces 80 BHP. However I haven’t seen much difference in power delivery in both the models. Gypsy’s short gear ratios gives immense torque making it easy to drive on kacha road, bad road and even on no road!
By default it has rear-wheel drive shaft
